Best Practices for Protecting Road Construction Workers
Road construction workers operate in an environment where danger is a constant companion. The proximity to moving traffic, the use of heavy machinery, and the exposure to various environmental elements make their workplace one of the more hazardous ones. Therefore, implementing best practices for protecting road construction workers is not just a regulatory requirement but a moral imperative. To…

BTW following distance:
There are a ton of various ways that people recommend you track following distance in your car for safety, and most of them are some measure of distance or time. I don't know what a hundred yards looks like. I don't know how many is ten carlengths. I measure in time.
The way that I do this is I watch the car in front of me pass an object and I count how long it takes me to get to the same object. Car in front of me passes a line in the pavement? One mississippi, two mississippi, three mississippi, four mississippi - it takes me four seconds to get to the line.
The faster you are going, the faster TRAFFIC is going, the more time you need for following distance because it's going to take longer for your fast-moving car to stop than it would for your slow-moving car to stop. You need even MORE time if your car is HEAVY, which is part of why it is rock fucking stupid when people dart in front of semis or when massive pickup trucks start tailgating.
With enough practice you get a good feel for what is a safe distance in various conditions (wet road after a long period with no rain? you need A FUCKING LOT of space), but one of the better ways to learn this is to play what I call the traffic game.
When you're playing the traffic game, you sit in traffic behind the car in front of you and you count how many times they press their brakes to each time you press yours, resetting to zero each time you put your foot on the brake.
If you are leaving good following distance, you should almost never use your brakes while driving on the highway because momentum should be enough to slow you down and keep you back if you're getting close to another car. If you have to brake frequently, you're too close for your speed.
Playing this game will make you a better, safer driver who is more aware of traffic and has a better feel for driving conditions. It has the added benefit (for me) of making traffic more fun to sit in as you try to beat your personal record (mine is 48; the driver in front of me pressed their brakes 48 times before I had to press mine).
Reset to zero when you have to brake, or when another car moves in front of you. You're allowed to ignore brake presses when going downhill but have to have double penalties if you brake while going uphill.
The *minimum* following distance at ANY speed and in ANY vehicle is far enough back that you can see where the tires of the vehicle in front of you touch the ground. If you have to brake hard enough that you can't see where the tires in front of you are you need to get off the road and practice driving more in empty parking lots because you are a hazard.
Remember that you are ALWAYS responsible for an accident if you rear end someone - if you rolled into another car because the car behind you hit your car, you were too close! If you rear-ended a driver in front of you because they braked suddenly for a cat in the road and you couldn't stop in time, you were too close! Leaving sufficient distance between you and the car in front of you is basically the most important thing that you can do to improve your road safety once you're past the basic stages of situation awareness and knowing how to check your blind spot. You do not want to be responsible for an accident! You do not want to risk injuring or killing people with your vehicle! One of the single best ways you can avoid that risk is by leaving sufficient following distance!

hoodie szn (but make it jolly)
pairing: non-idol!bf!Chan x fem!reader (ft. roommate!Soonyoung)
genre: fluff, smut, comedy
warnings: mentions of food, reader is implied to be petite, fingering, use of pet names, whipped chan but also a tease, exhibitionism? sorta?, soonyoung is a cockblock on accident, playful banter, mentions of food
word count: ~1.9k
summary: getting snowed in with your boyfriend isn't as bad as you think - you can put up some early decorations, steal your boyfriend's hoodie - did we mention getting fucked in that hoodie?
Author’s note: Hello! This is my entry for the snowventeen collab of @svthub! Be sure to check out the rest of the fics as well <3 Happy holidays!
p.s.: have this terribly made header with early 2010s wattpad style lmao
“The snow has already covered the biggest part of the city, the roads are closed off until further notice. Citizens are advised to stay at home and cut down on any unnecessary transports for their own safety”.
“Wonderful…”, you sigh and turn off the television, slouching back in the cushions of the couch. You definitely didn’t expect getting snowed in the day after sleeping over at your boyfriend’s apartment.
But then again, when was the last time you actually saw snow in the city? Might as well enjoy it, right?
You open the curtains once more to take a peek into the now white streets, just a handful of people walking around in heavy clothing, clutching the grocery bags in their hands with all the necessary supplies.
A chill runs down your spine and you realize that you’re still in your rather thin pajamas, which aren’t really the best option for such weather. You skip to Chan’s bedroom and start rummaging through his closet, hoping you’ll find something warm and cozy enough. Your eyes shine when you spot a stark white hoodie of his, although you’re a tiny bit disappointed when you notice that the hoodie is sleeveless.
“Eh, I’ll just put a shirt underneath”, you deadpan and open the drawer right below, where Chan keeps some of your shirts - those you forget whenever you sleep over, at least.
Your intuition is proven correct as you spot a long sleeved black shirt and you waste zero time in changing into the handpicked clothes.
You do a once-over at the mirror and notice your bare legs, suddenly feeling very cold down there. “Damn, I’m sure I’ve brought socks with me…”, you mutter and search through your bag again. “Aha!”, you exclaim when you finally find your pair of black thigh high socks - which, coincidentally, are Chan’s favorite on you (you definitely didn’t do that on purpose).
A few minutes pass and you’re found in the living room again, laying on the couch, scrolling on social media out of boredom. You sigh as you look at the posted pictures, decorated balconies and Christmas trees, hot beverages and gingerbread houses. You close your phone, putting it down on the table, whining in defeat.
You glance around and notice that Chan's apartment is very much ordinary and in desperate need of Christmas decorations. Well, might as well keep yourself busy with something, right?
You get up and start searching around the house to find any obnoxiously big boxes that could possibly contain said decorations.
Living room? Nope. Soonyoung's room? Out of bounds, not stepping in there. Chan's room? Not there either.
"Where the hell are they…", you mutter and go to the bathroom to splash some water on your face, when you see a box awkwardly sticking out right next to the washing machine. Nah, it can't be, you think but you nonetheless try to pull it out and lift it up, a quite familiar sound echoing from within.
"I swear to God…", you plop the box down and remove the tape, rolling your eyes as you see that there are, indeed, Christmas stuff in there.
"These damn idiots", you grumble as you take out the colorful lights, trying to detangle them from the mess they currently are in. You’re caught up in separating all the garlands and mistletoes when the door clcks open, revealing your boyfriend (who could easily pass for a snowman in his current state).
“Babe, I’m h- what the fuck happened in here”, Chan deadpans while taking off his snow-covered shoes, leaving them on the doormat.
“That’s what I said when I realized it’s literally two days away from Christmas and you still don’t have Christmas decor in your apartment!”, you point at the open box, filled with mistletoes, lights and tree charms. “If anything, it makes me think you forgot about Christmas”, you plop on the couch with a disappointed pout. “Hey, that’s too far!”, he points at you in protest, “We just didn’t have enough time to decorate with Soonyoung”, he puts his jacket on the hanger, “Classes have been running crazy these days, everyone seems to wanna learn dancing for all the holiday parties”, he ruffles his hair a bit.
"Anyways, what were you doing outside with that weather?" you ask him, “Didn’t you freeze your ass off?”. “Yeah, I kinda did, but I managed to find food!”, he proudly flexes the bag with the warm takeout in it. “Aww, Channie, you didn’t have to”, “Shut up, of course I had to - It’s not like I always have my girlfriend staying over - with my flatmate not being here as well! Talk about luck, huh?”, “Well, I don’t know if getting snowed in counts as luck, but I’m not saying no to it”, you laugh.
After placing the food on the counter, Chan takes a more detailed glance at your current outfit.
“Babe, is that my hoodie?”, Chan raises an eyebrow, realizing that the sole clothing article covering your body, is indeed, his hoodie.
“Yeah, it is - does it look good on me?”, you hop off the couch and twirl around in a cute way, but you don’t realize the hoodie rides up and it reveals part of your ass - along with your lacy white thong.
Chan immediately gets up and pulls you flush to his body, his hands smoothing over the fabric, yet his palms ending up on your ass, squeezing the soft flesh.
“Baby, it looks really good on you”, he smiles, his voice dropping a few octaves, sending a shiver straight down your spine.
“So good I wanna make you cum while you wear it”.
“Channie!”, you yelp at his words, skin flushing at the thought of your boyfriend doing such unspeakable things to you, “May I remind you that you don’t live alone?”, you reprimand him and he rolls his eyes, pressing a kiss on your cheek, a radiant grin on his face. “Y/N, Soonyoung isn’t even here today and he won’t be able to return until the roads are cleaned up”, “You’re so insufferable sometimes”, you roll your eyes at him, but he merely brings you closer to him, making you back step towards the couch.
The back of your legs hit the cushions of the couch and you plop down on it with a giggle, Chan caging you with his body, his radiant smile captivating as ever.
"Hi", "Hey, handsome", you reply and he leans down to kiss you, spreading your legs to give him space. Chan gets the message and slots himself between them, his hands now running over your legs and the thigh highs.
"You brought these on purpose, didn't you?", he tugs at the elastic band, making it snap against your skin. "Maybe", you let out a tiny yelp as his fingers make contact with your covered core, rubbing your pussy over your flimsy panties.
"Naughty girl", Chan bites his bottom lip and slides your thong to the side, letting out a groan when he watches your pussy glistening with your juices, his fingers itching to slide in. “Chan, come on”, you whine, your hand wrapping around his wrist to pull his hand closer to where you need him the most. “Gosh, you’re so impatient”, he chuckles and you glare at him, opting to close your legs out of spite, but he’s having none of it.
“Baby, don’t misbehave”, Chan pins your right thigh with his free hand, the other one finally touching your pussy, making you moan out loud, “You wouldn’t really want me to leave you high and wet like that, right?”, he grins. “N-No, I don’t want you to stop”, you mutter, bringing your hand over your mouth to muffle the rest of your moans threatening to spill from your mouth. “What was that, baby? I didn’t hear you”, he sing-songs with the most teasing lilt he can muster. “Fuck, Chan, stop teasing and give me your fingers, please!”, you whine again, but it turns into a loud gasp when you feel your boyfriend’s fingers sink into your soaked core, instantly clenching down on them.
“Damn, baby, you’re sucking them right in, so fucking greedy”, Chan’s breath tickles your ear, his lips barely touching that weak spot behind it. You mentally beg he abuses that spot with his mouth, just like the way he knows.
He starts pumping them in a rather fast pace, his thumb reaching to rub your swollen clit, eliciting moan after moan from your lips. It’s as if he reads your thoughts when you feel his lips suck on that spot behind your ear, your mouth forming in an ‘o’ shape. “Doing so well for me, sweetheart, so fucking well, fuck”, Chan moans, his own self-control wearing thin as his cock twitches with every little sound you make. “More, give me more”, you whine, your hand reaching to Chan’s crotch, palming his bulge over his pants, making him groan, his head leaning forward, forehead touching yours, breaths almost mingling together.
The both of you are completely lost in pleasure, your boyfriend’s fingers never stopping their motions, rubbing against your walls, that you completely miss the door clicking open, a different figure entering the apartment.
“Hello? Anyon- HOLY SHIT DUDE!”, the source of the voice snaps the both of you out of it, making you scream out loud.
“What the- Soonyoung?! What the fuck are you doing here?!”, Chan yelps as he notices his roommate standing frozen on the doorstep. He puts himself in front of you to somehow cover your body from the older man’s sight, in an attempt to save the last remnants of decency. “Um, I can still see her, uh”, he gestures vaguely towards your body and you hide your face under your boyfriend’s hoodie out of shame.
Chan takes a pillow and throws it towards his roommate, while trying his best to put your panties back on, ending up leaving you high and dry, against his will, mouthing an “I’m sorry” with an embarrassed expression.
“Can you at least explain why the hell you’re here? Weren’t you supposed to stay at Seungkwan’s tonight?”, “Well yeah, that was the plan, until a power cut happened and both of our phones died out so I had no way to text you”, he lets out an awkward laugh. “Let me get this straight - you left Seungkwan all alone in his house without power?”, you straighten your clothes, legs feeling a bit wobbly.
“In my defense, he managed to send a text to another friend of his to spend the night there before his phone died”, Soonyoung tries to excuse himself. “And you didn’t think about doing the same?”, your boyfriend grits out of annoyance. “Oh…Ahah, you are not wrong there, buddy”, Soonyoung laughs, making the two of you sigh in defeat, “Yeah, sorry about that, Y/N”. “You’re lucky you’re Chan’s friend and I love you, otherwise I would have decapitated you”, “Okay easy there, tiger”, he laughs and goes into his room to change. You feel a pair of arms around your waist and Chan turns you around, pulling you flush to his chest.
“I promise to make it up to you, babe, I swear”, he whispers against your lips, his hands fisting your (his) hoodie. “You better hold up to your word, mister, or I’ll strangle you with that ugly garland”, “Is that a promise”, “Threat would be a more suitable word”, you retort playfully.
“I’ll accept it either way”, Chan kisses you again, grinning widely.
Maybe getting snowed in isn’t so bad after all.

Concerns Mount Over Exploding Electric Vehicles

BY CHRIS MORRISON
Safety concerns around electric vehicles continue to mount with Australian fire and rescue services in New South Wales stating they might have to make a “tactical disengagement” of a trapped car accident victim if the battery is likely to explode. Australian journalist Jo Nova covered the story, which was first mentioned in the EV blog The Driven, and commented: “They say the first responders need more training as if this can be solved with a certificate, but the dark truth is they’re talking about training the firemen and the truck drivers to recognise when they have to abandon the rescue.”
The Driven, a widely-read blog that seems highly sympathetic to a rollout of EVs, was reporting on recent testimony given to the NSW Government’s Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Batteries Inquiry. The writer suggested that first responders did not have adequate training to deal with electric vehicle collisions, and in the most serious cases, crews could be forced to abandon rescues. One particular area of concern seemed to revolve around the need to extract a trapped casualty quickly after a crash by dragging the person out in a “very undesirable manner”. Fires are a grave risk in any vehicle accident, but they can be quickly brought under control in an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.
Worries about the potential dangers inherent in EVs is likely to grow as numbers on the roads continue to rise. EV battery explosions can occur very quickly, triggering the release of highly toxic gases. When they roar into thermal overdrive, they create very high temperatures and are very difficult to extinguish. The explosion can occur after almost any collision, or be due to a fault in the initial manufacture. The fire often takes hours to control and it can reignited days after it was thought to be out. With Net Zero fanatics desperate to drive ICE cars off the road in short order, EVs are the only mass private transport solution offered. Many of the issues, including safety, that make them an inferior product compared to petrol-powered combustion cars are often ignored.
Just what can be involved in putting out a fire in an EV was dramatically detailed in a recent press release from the Wakefield Fire Dept in Massachusetts. It was called out to deal with a burning Tesla on a snowy Interstate 95, and reported:
Wakefield Engine 1 and Ladder 1 initiated suppression operations, applying copious amounts of water onto the vehicle. Multiple surrounding mutual aid communities responded as well to support firefighting operations and to create a water shuttle to bring water continually to the scene. Engines from Melrose, Stoneham, Reading, Lynnfield as well as a Middleton water tanker assisted. Firefighters had three 1¾-inch hand lines as well as a ‘blitz gun’ in operation to cool the battery compartment… Lynnfield crews established a continuous 4-inch supply line from Vernon Street up to the highway. The fire was declared under control and fully extinguished after about two and a half hours… The vehicle was removed from the scene after consulting with the Hazmat Unit… The crews did a great job, especially in the middle of storm conditions – on a busy highway.
There is little doubt that EV fires are on the rise. In the U.K., CE Safety runs Freedom of Information checks on local fire brigades and its latest survey shows an alarming rise in conflagrations. In Greater London in the 2017-2022 period, there were a reported 507 battery fires from a number of EV types, but CE Safety found a “gigantic” 219 conflagrations in 2022-23 alone. Lancashire was said to rank second with 15 EV battery fires, but this was 10 more in a single year than recorded in the five years between 2017-2022. Overall “it was concerning” to discover that the number of electric battery fires during 2022-2023 was higher in most areas than the data showed over five years from 2017 to 2022. During that year, 14 buses suffered battery fires.
There was a substantial increase in the number of e-bikes catching fire, with CE Safety noting that lithium is highly flammable and reactive. “Over-charging presents a massive risk to households with lithium-powered vehicles,” the safety organisation observed.
Concern is also rising over the transportation of EVs on car ferries. Recently, Havila Kystruten, which operates a fleet of car ferries around the coast of Norway, has banned the transportation of electric, hybrid and hydrogen vehicles. According to a report in the Maritime Executive, it is the latest step by the shipping industry, “which has become acutely aware of the increasing danger of transporting EV and other alternate fuel vessels”.
Havila’s Managing Director Bent Martini said a risk analysis had shown a fire at sea in a fossil fuel vehicle could be handled by on-board systems. “A possible fire in electric, hybrid or hydrogen cars will require external rescue efforts and could put people on board and the ships at risk,” he said. That of course is the nightmare scenario. If fire breaks out on a ferry making a 20-mile crossing in good weather, the chances of all passengers and crew surviving are good. Less good, perhaps, if fire was to break out and fill the ship with toxic smoke in the middle of a stormy November night while crossing the Bay of Biscay. Chances of survival would be diminished if the high temperatures caused nearby EVs to explode.
Mercifully, we are less and less likely to see such accidents. The list of disadvantages of EVs is lengthening by the day. Environmental concerns about the manufacture and mining of raw materials have been raised, while ‘range anxiety’ is common among drivers. EVs are more expensive than ICE cars, while knackered batteries mean that second-hand values are very poor. For those who would see the back of them, the graph below might provide some comfort.
This shows the recent decline in the share price of the American car hire giant Hertz. Back in 2021, the company pushed ahead with huge purchases of Teslas. In January it dumped 20,000 of them, and last month pushed another 10,000 onto a sagging second-hand market. Out in the real world – the world where people create wealth by providing what other people actually want – fewer drivers seemed willing to hire them. The share price tells its own sorry story. Meanwhile, EV sales across Europe tend to be driven by unsustainable tax breaks, while the cars are mainly popular with wealthy people as a second or third city runabout. An enforced political adoption of EVs is likely to destroy vast swathes of the European car industry, unable to compete with cheap Chinese imports.
If the aim is to take away personal transport for the masses, EVs are an excellent idea. Whether that will ultimately play well at the ballot box is another matter.

✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈«
Pushing your earbuds into your ears, you set off on your morning walk. Is this a daily occurrence? Absolutely not, there's no way anyone could convince you to get up and out of the house before 8 every morning, not even with a delicious breakfast. Alas, this morning appears to be an exception as you've been dragged out of the warmth of your bed by none other than the call of money.
Oh, the things we do for minimum wage..
Though, to be fair, you can't really complain about this particular; your boss is good to you, most of your shifts are a couple of hours of zero work and your co-workers are all incredibly nice, almost unbelievably kind. You honestly have no idea how you got so lucky, the only thing that manages to convince you of this being reality is the abysmal pay. For a small, tucked away, family owned bookshop you're paid fairly well but compared to any other job it's nothing. You stick with it for the people, if you're being honest, because you just know if you were to ever bring up pay with your boss they'd start offering money they couldn't afford to give you. They're too nice like that.
Today you're on shift with a favourite co-worker of yours, Tae Young. He's around your age and shares a lot of your interests.. he seems a little shy at times but once he gets going there's no stopping him. It's honestly really fun to be on shift with him, you always end up having a great time, whether he's mimicking the people walking past the shop window or you're both doing separate tasks around the shop. You've found that just being in the same space as him makes you happy.
..
WAIT YOU KNOW WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE BUT STOP, JUST WAIT, IT'S NOT LIKE THAT REALLY! Tae Young is amazing, truly one of your best friends but, um, you have your eye on someone else right now. It's kind of embarrassing and definitely a pipe dream, trust that you know after all your friends mocked you for it, but you can't help it.. Dove is just so.. heroic!
Even though he's only been on the hero scene for a short while compared to some of the more experienced heros you've noticed just how kind he is with every victim and even the villains. While all heros perform under the strict no killing policies set by the government, some come a hair's breadth away from breaking said policies. But Dove? Dove tries his hardest to not hurt anyone he fights and for the most part tries to stealth every situation or talk his way out of it if that fails. Not only that but he always, always checks on any victims, hostages or anyone in the area and evacuates them before engaging the villain which is so cool! Some heroes don't even pretend to care about the surrounding citizens which is like the opposite of their job but Dove is so amazing!
Ahem, pardon your fangirling but anyway, you realise any sort of contact with Dove is practically impossible but it's nice to dream, isn't it?
Humming along to your music, you make your way down the same path you take every time you go to work. You reach the traffic lights in what feels like record time but is probably just as much time as it normally takes you. As you’re waiting for the lights to change you notice your undone shoelace; if you weren’t already stopped you’d probably ignore it but since you’re not moving anytime soon you decide it’s probably for the best that you re-tie it, health and safety and all that.
While you’re crouched down, doing up your shoes, you notice screams in the background of your music.. or, wait.. you pull out your earphones with one hand as you come to the realisation that the people around you were the ones screaming over your music. You whip your head up in time to notice a massive lorry hurtling down the hill to your left and straight towards you, the driver helplessly bashing at the horn to try and warn people of what seems to be his broken brakes. Your eyes dart around as you scramble up off the ground and try to figure out where to go; time’s running out and it seems you’ve run out of options, all that you can do is close your eyes and hope that you survive.
However, it seems that the universe has some other ideas in mind. Just before the lorry reaches you, the ground around you begins to crack, break and move as thick, strong vines burst from the concrete and wrap themselves around the tires, stopping it in its tracks. Vibrant pink flowers sprout up all over the vines and if you weren’t so numb with shock you would’ve jumped for joy: wherever Dove goes, the pink flowers follow.
As it happens, though, you are numb from shock and your body decides it’s time to publicise that as your legs simply stop functioning causing you to collapse back onto the floor in a heap. You just wanted to go to work and get money, maybe fantasise about Dove a little bit during the most boring hours.. NOT ACCIDENTALLY SUMMON HIM WITH A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE!
Maybe people are right when they warn you to be careful of what you wish for..
“Uh, are you alright.. innocent citizen?” A strained, awkward, mildly robotic voice calls from somewhere above you. You look up and immediately stare right back down at the floor when you make eye contact with Dove.. nope, can’t do it, won’t even try..
You mumble that you’re fine in response but all you’re met with is confusion, “Sorry, I couldn't quite catch that, I was asking if you’re alright if you, uh, weren’t able to hear me either..”
Well, maybe the universe was doing you a solid by sending that truck after all, clearly it wanted to save you the embarrassment of.. this.. whatever this is
“I, um, said I’m fine, thank you” You reply louder this time, occupying yourself by standing up and dusting yourself off, which is quite the feat considering your legs are still shaking like a newborn lamb’s.
You finally force yourself to look at Dove when you feel his hand rest on your arm, “It’s okay to be shaken up, you know. I know I would be in your..” He trails off after you brush everything away from your face, which ends up causing the two of you to make eye contact.
Tilting your head in confusion, you wait for Dove to finish what he was saying but he keeps staring at you.. fuck is there something on your face
“Oh, uh, no, sorry, I lost my train of thought there for a second, I guess.” Dove rambles, pulling his hand away from your arm to rub at the back of his neck.
FUCK DID YOU SAY THAT OUT LOUD???
Is it weird to admit you kinda miss the warmth of his hand on your arm? For the love of God you hope you didn't accidentally say that one out loud..
“Anyway, um, I should get going, hero stuff to do, people to save, you, uh, you know the deal. Um, I’ll see you around I guess, no wait, don’t get into danger so I don’t have to, like, save you, though I’m sure you could save yourself because you’re strong and amazing like that.. I mean, um, you look strong and amazing, that is, um, but see you around s in I might see you during patrols and stuff, so, um, yeah.. see ya!” Dove rambles on, taking one or two steps away from you as he talks, accidentally summoning flowers instead of vines.
Finally, Dove manages to summon a vine from the top of a building and swings himself away on that, deep red visible from under his mask.
You walk over to the pile of flowers Dove left behind and pick one from the top; white gardenias.
He’s more.. human than you expected, more real. It’s really only made him even more endearing than he was before.
Tucking the flower behind your ear, continue on your way to work once again, this time you pocket your phone and earphones and decide to tie your shoes when you get to work instead, for health and safety reasons.

Omg y'know yes this is VERY on brand the little way he plays with her pants hem is very cute.
I ALMOST had her go home with him on the bike but realized she's in a dress and heels and no helmet and I frequent /r/idiotsincars and have seen too many bike accidents and one where some girl wearing zero protection like reader FELL OFF THE BACK OF THE BIKE and her ass and thighs were destroyed from the road and she definitely broke something 🤐 Katsuki would not forego proper safety gear. He could be the best driver in Japan but you can't control the stupidity of other people.
I saw this one too if she had her own bike lmao

In Africa, the risks of traffic accidents are exceptionally high. The number of road accidents is also higher than on any other continent.
In the past week alone, road accidents have claimed dozens of lives in Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa, to mention just a few countries. Available data from the World Health Organization (WHO) suggest that Africa has the worst rate of road traffic deaths in the world, with an unacceptably high fatality rate of 26.6 deaths per 100,000 people — nearly three times that of Europe.
The Dominican Republic takes first place in a ranking compiled by the health service platform World Life Expectancy using WHO data. After that, only African countries, such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Liberia, Eritrea and others, follow until Venezuela breaks the ranks at 26th.
Kenya's crackdown on traffic offenders
Kenya is ranked 12th, with 48 traffic fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants. However, the number of deaths in relation to the population has risen steadily since 2013. Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki announced that he would take tougher action against drivers who do not obey the traffic rules.
"We expect all regulations governing traffic on our roads to be complied with 100%, by all people, regardless of their rank or social position," Kindiki told reporters, adding that he had instructed the police to take action against all those who violate traffic regulations without exception.
South Africa: 'Arrive Alive' campaign bears fruit
Traffic authorities in South Africa have warned motorists to be mindful on the roads during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. With slogans such as "Be safe — get there," radio stations have been drawing attention to the dangers of flouting traffic rules almost every hour.
The "Arrive Alive" campaign has been active for years and provides valuable tips on responsible behavior behind the wheel and during traffic jams and other disruptions. It also offers help on how to plan trips to a destination popular with tourists. Recently, South Africa has observed a decline in traffic fatalities.
Nevertheless, traffic accidents still killed about 22.2 people per 100,000 inhabitants in 2019 on South Africa's roads, according to the WHO. By African standards, that's a huge improvement, but well above the global average.
For example, about four people per 100,000 inhabitants in Germany died in road traffic accidentsin 2018.
Fighting corruption and driving while drunk
Alcohol is a major factor in accidents in South Africa, writes the South African Journal of Science on its website. The journal recommends introducing zero tolerance for drunk driving.
Overall, calls for stricter penalties for road traffic offenses are growing louder, not least because corrupt police officers often make it difficult to punish traffic offenders efficiently when they can buy their way out for small amounts of money.
In Kenya, too, the excesses of corruption contribute to carnage on the roads. In some instances, some have been caught driving without licenses, thereby risking the lives of other commuters.
"Our drivers cut it short. They buy papers at the counter, and the next day, they're on the road, driving too fast and we have to be on our guard," Eunice Imwenda, manager of a driving school in the capital, Nairobi, told DW.
Accidents different from crashes
In Nigeria, road traffic crashes are among the leading causes of death, along with insurgency and banditry, according to data from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Africa's most populous nation recorded 41,709 road deaths between 2013 and 2020.
In many cases, one should speak of collisions (crashes) rather than accidents, Gbenga Akimbule, a policy analyst, told DW.
"An accident is something you didn't plan for, but if you have a bad tire and you know that the tire might not get you to your destination and you pray and believe that God will get you there, that's different."
Daily reports of road accidents
"Road accidents and collisions have become so normal that hardly a day goes by without a report of a road accident that takes lives or causes permanent disabilities for victims," Badiya Sani from Maiduguri told DW. "Those of us who don't own a car have no choice but to switch to public transportation. But we do so with a lot of trepidation," she added.
As in many African countries, authorities must establish a good public transport network. Buses and minibus cabs are usually in poor condition, technically untested and often involved in accidents. The government needs to do more about this, Sani urges.
Educating Kenya's bodaboda riders
In Kenya, local motorcycle cabs known as "boda bodas" are a popular means of public transport. But they are also responsible for many accidents, Evans Langat of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) told DW.
The agency is therefore emphasizing this in its educational campaign. "We've made all drivers aware, and I think the message has gotten through," Langat said.
The numbers in the coming years will show whether he's right about that. For now, many a Kenyan family will breathe a sigh of relief once the holiday traffic is over.

How Trucking Shows are Shaping the Future of the Trucking Industry
In recent years, trucking shows have become more than just industry gatherings; they’re powerful forces driving transformation and innovation across the trucking landscape. These shows provide a platform for manufacturers, drivers, and industry leaders to showcase advancements, network, and discuss the future of trucking. The appeal isn’t limited to large commercial vehicles, either. Pickup truck shows are attracting new audiences, further expanding the reach of these events. With the growing popularity of trucking podcasts and trucker podcasts, even those who can’t attend these shows in person can stay informed. Let’s take a closer look at how trucking shows are shaping the future of the industry.
Impact of Trucking Shows on Industry Innovations
At the heart of every trucking show is the excitement of new technology, equipment, and products. Trucking shows provide manufacturers and tech innovators with a stage to launch cutting-edge products that promise to increase safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. For instance, recent events have highlighted advancements in electric trucks, autonomous driving technology, and eco-friendly fuel options. These innovations aren’t just for show; they’re critical in addressing the challenges and demands of modern logistics.
Safety enhancements are a top priority for many exhibitors. At trucking shows, companies have introduced advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that help reduce accidents by providing lane departure warnings, blind-spot detection, and automatic emergency braking. These features are becoming standard on newer truck models, making roads safer for everyone.
Efficiency is another area that receives significant attention at these shows. For example, manufacturers often unveil aerodynamic upgrades and lightweight materials designed to reduce fuel consumption, lowering operational costs for trucking companies. Electric trucks have been a hot topic in recent years, with companies showcasing models that promise zero emissions and significant fuel savings.
With a growing emphasis on sustainability, trucking shows are also highlighting the development of alternative fuels, such as hydrogen and biodiesel. These cleaner fuel options are not only better for the environment but are also seen as crucial steps toward meeting stricter emissions regulations.
The Role of Pickup Truck Shows in Expanding the Audience
While trucking shows cater primarily to commercial vehicle operators, pickup truck shows have been instrumental in broadening the appeal. These events attract a diverse crowd of enthusiasts, collectors, and professionals interested in lighter trucks. From vintage pickups to the latest off-road models, pickup truck shows provide something for everyone, adding a unique flavor to the trucking event scene.
Pickup truck shows are valuable because they bridge the gap between commercial trucking professionals and the general public. For instance, these shows often include family-friendly activities, creating a welcoming environment that encourages young people to take an interest in the industry. Some attendees come to admire restored vintage pickups, while others are interested in the latest models outfitted with advanced technology and luxury features.
The appeal of pickup truck shows also lies in their ability to highlight the versatility of light trucks. Unlike heavy-duty trucks, pickups are vehicles that many attendees can envision owning or driving. This helps bring the trucking industry closer to the public, showcasing it as a dynamic field with opportunities for anyone interested in trucks, whether they’re professionals or hobbyists.
Networking and Community-Building at Trucking Shows
Beyond the flashy displays and product launches, trucking shows provide an invaluable opportunity for networking and community-building. Truckers, company representatives, suppliers, and industry leaders all come together to share insights, discuss challenges, and explore potential collaborations. This type of networking is essential for a community as tight-knit and cooperative as the trucking industry.
Attendees often find camaraderie and support at these shows. Trucking can be an isolating profession, but at a trucking show, drivers have the chance to connect with others who understand the unique challenges of life on the road. From sharing stories about long hauls to discussing the latest industry regulations, these interactions foster a sense of unity among attendees.
For companies, trucking shows are prime events for recruiting new talent and building brand loyalty. Many organizations set up booths to showcase their company culture, career opportunities, and employee benefits. By directly engaging with drivers and trucking professionals, companies can foster loyalty and attract new employees in a competitive labor market.
The Role of Trucking Podcasts and Trucker Podcasts
While not everyone can attend trucking shows, trucking podcasts and trucker podcasts play a crucial role in extending the reach of these events. Podcasts dedicated to the trucking industry often cover major shows, providing exclusive insights, interviews, and highlights. This allows listeners to stay updated on industry trends and innovations from wherever they are.
Furthermore, trucking podcasts help build a virtual community among drivers, providing a space where they can feel connected despite being miles apart. Podcasts are accessible from anywhere, making them ideal companions for long drives. By tuning in, truckers can stay informed about upcoming events, new regulations, and industry changes, all while feeling part of a larger conversation.
Conclusion
Trucking shows are much more than trade events; they’re dynamic hubs that drive the trucking industry forward. From showcasing the latest safety and efficiency innovations to providing unique networking opportunities, these events play a pivotal role in shaping the industry’s future. Pickup truck shows expand the appeal, inviting a broader audience and cultivating interest among truck enthusiasts and younger generations.
For those who can’t make it to these shows, trucking podcasts and trucker podcasts are valuable resources, bringing the excitement and insights of these events directly to drivers and enthusiasts everywhere. As the trucking industry continues to evolve, the influence of trucking shows and podcasts is only expected to grow, connecting the community and pushing the industry toward a future defined by innovation and camaraderie.
Whether you’re a professional driver, a trucking enthusiast, or simply interested in the industry, consider attending a trucking show or tuning into a trucking podcast. It’s a great way to stay informed, network with others, and witness firsthand how these events are shaping the future of trucking.

This guide will help you understand everything about car insurance, covering popular questions and sub-topics that drive search traffic. By the end, you'll have a clear view of which policy fits your needs and how to make the most of your insurance.
What is Car Insurance?
Car insurance is a contract between you and an insurance company that provides financial protection in case of accidents, theft, or damage to your vehicle. By paying a monthly or annual premium, you ensure coverage for repair costs, medical expenses, or legal liabilities.

Add-On Adjustments: Evaluate if additional coverage options are necessary or beneficial.
Complete Renewal: Renew online through your provider’s website for a hassle-free process.
Tips for Saving on Car Insurance Premiums
Here are some strategies to lower your car insurance costs:
Increase Your Deductible: A higher deductible reduces monthly premiums.
Opt for Bundling: Some providers offer discounts if you bundle auto and home insurance.
Install Anti-Theft Devices: Lower the risk of theft and qualify for discounts.
Drive Safely: A clean driving record often leads to premium discounts.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: Is it mandatory to have car insurance? Yes, most regions require at least basic third-party car insurance for legal compliance.
Q2: Can I transfer my car insurance when selling my car? Yes, car insurance policies can often be transferred to a new owner with the insurer’s approval.
Q3: How can I check my car insurance status online? Many insurance providers allow you to check policy details on their website or through their customer support.
Q4: What is the claim settlement ratio, and why is it important? The claim settlement ratio reflects the number of claims an insurer successfully settles. A high ratio suggests reliability and efficient claim handling.
Conclusion: Protect Your Investment with the Right Car Insurance
Car insurance protects not only your car but also your financial wellbeing and peace of mind. I'm going to put the narrative of this under the cut because it's graphic, but TLDR: I have been in a LOT of car accidents in my life, but only ONE where I was driving. Spending your child in the world's worst game of live action bumber cars is a great way to develop an extremely careful and safe driving style. I frequently get complimented for how I will **rotate my entire head** to check my blind spots before ever moving my car laterally (e.g. a turn or a lane change, etc). I literally have a consistent 10second mirror rotation, and prioritize having my foot anywhere near the gas pedal as infrequently as possible (I do a lot of momentum based driving where I use friction and acceleration to my advantage). I am possibly one of the safest drivers you could ever meet.
The one car accident I had where I was the one behind the wheel was utterly spontaneous. Lightening in a bottle type shit. For a reason that remains a medical mystery despite multiple brain scans and intensive blood testing, I simply lost consciousness behind the wheel one day. It had never happened before and it has never happened since. What's wild is that I **do** have a fainting condition but it is explicitly tied to moving from a seated position to an upright standing one, so there is literally no way it could be involved in my loss of consciousness. And while the crash itself caused me a head injury with a concussion, we are not sure if this caused a lack of memory of what caused the crash (unlikely given what occurred) or if losing consciousness predated the head injury (most likely but currently inexplicable).
You can do everything perfectly right, but cars are what they are, and when there are as many of them interacting with each other on the road as they are, an accident truly is a "when" not an "if".
But how many times, how bad the crash is, how high your risks of outcome are, is all much more accessible in terms of harm reduction.
Traffic etiquette, understanding of some of the physics of driving and of road infrastructure, and an understanding of how to react quickly to unpredictable things in a way that minimizes risk of harm are all important pieces of this harm reduction, and I **strongly** recommend people learn as much as they comfortably can about this stuff. I vastly prefer the past 15 years where I've only had 1 car accident vs the previous 17 years where I was in 5. And I'm much less anxious as a driver now that I better understand how to protect my safety.
Realistically, all but 1 of the 6 car accidents I've been in followed this pattern of "there was literally nothing the person who got hit could have done to avoid this". And the ONE accident that wasn't was the one that did the least damage to all involved, to the point of literally leaving zero damage to either person and either car. Circumstances below the cut
Accident 1) a car was rammed by a driver whose brakes had stopped working while going down the steepest hill in town and rammed a line of cars stopped at a stop light below at highway speeds
Accident 2) a car was backed into at low speed in a parking lot, however a trailer hitch became embedded in the passanger door, so when the other driver tried to drive away, they rattled car around like a maraca because they couldn't unstick the trailer hitch, causing severe whiplash and spinal damage
Accident 3) another car ran a red light and t-boned the car at high speeds as it made a left turn in the intersection
Accident 4) a tire blew on the highway on the ahead and the car spun out and was impossible to avoid across two of three lanes at highway speeds as a result
Accident 5) the driver saw the light turn green and was unfamiliar with a new car's accleration, so bumped the car ahead of it at the light which had not moved forward as quickly (no damage to anyone or even scratches on either car due to driver safety of cautious acceleration and quick braking response as well as situational awareness)
Accident 6) as the driver, i lost consciousness (??) and apparently lost control of my car which both accelerated and suddenly veered left. The other car's driver apparently attempted to avoid being hit by veering into an empty lane, and was able to exit their vehicle unharmed (although the vehicle was totalled) however my car had crossed five lanes of traffic and the engine was fully smoking because the entire car was destroyed. The electrical system in particular fried itself and all electronics plugged directly into it (rip my car charger and phonejack splitter), and all the airbags had gone off. I had to be taken directly to the ER with a spinal brace and stretcher, and suffered a minor TBI, as well as whiplash and spinal damage.
I cannot emphasize enough that in every case that allowed for it, situational awareness improved outcomes for at least one of the two sets of vehicle passengers, as did defensive and cautious driving strategies. In cases where this wasn't an option, outcomes were all so dramatically worse.
While it will not help you to be terrified of driving, I truly think it is important that you be realistic about what it means to spend the time you do on the road. If that reality cannot be acceptable to you, you may need to adjust your relationship to driving. That sucks in a world and society as dominated by them as ours is, but doing so for me has been possible and super effective at improving my safety behind the wheel. I know some lessons have to be internalized through personal experience. But I truly hope that folks who read this are able to make the leap away from that, because any increased safety on the roads contributes to an overall culture of road safety. The effort will be worth it, I promise.
I am BEGGING younger drivers. drive carefully. give yourself room. for fuck's sake use your turn signals and don't fucking weave thru traffic. this is not a video game, this is real life and if you get into an accident, you could get killed or kill someone else VERY easily
